Her legacy . . . Lenora Mae Bolenbaugh, 84, of Jackson passed away May 23, 2017 at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit. She was born Aug. 29, 1932 in Grandville, Mich., the daughter of Albert Jacob and Gertrude (Hoeve) Kooienga. Lenora married Thomas Bolenbaugh Aug. 27, 1950 in Angola, Ind., and he preceded her in death. She enjoyed her employment as a switchboard operator, a “hot-lunch lady” for Addison Schools, taking meals to Devils Lake Grade School. Later in life, Lenora and Thomas were the caretakers of the former Stormont Chapel in Grass Lake. She loved to play scrabble, knit, and search-a-word puzzles. She was a Sunday school teacher at Cement City Baptist Church, and later volunteered at Cedar Knoll Rest Home.

Her family . . . Lenora is survived by her children, Susan (Richard) Streams, of Onsted, Kevin Bolenbaugh, of Hillsdale; siblings, Jerome Kooienga, Norman Kooienga, Karen Nykamp and Gloria Beek. Lenora was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, parents and infant daughter, Janice Marie; sisters, Marcia Aernouts and Aberdane Leenheer.
