James Lowell Waybright Sr.

James Lowell Waybright Sr. was born May 21, 1948, at St. Anthony Hospital in Michigan City, Ind. He died of lung cancer peacefully at home in Brooklyn, Mich., Nov. 9, 2016, at 68 years of age. Cremation has taken place.

He was the son of Lowell O. Waybright of Illinois and Marilyn Jean Logan Waybright of Michigan. He graduated from Onsted High School in 1966. An engaging conversationalist, sharp dresser, talented dancer, and good pinball player, he was well known and very popular throughout the class. In his middle years, he embraced a sober way of life devoting many hours to service. He was well respected by his fellows as an outspoken defender of the 12 steps.

He primarily resided in the greater Irish Hills area, but did live approximately 20 years in Florida. In 1967, he married Gloria Singler and their child is James Waybright Jr. In 1995 he married Alesia Ellen Morris and they had two children, Andrea and Matthew Waybright. He also has a son, Christopher Handy.

He is survived by his children; grandchildren, Cheryl, Chelsea, and Chyler Waybright; great-grandchild, Bentley Waybright; as well as a brother, Paul Coffelt of Bath, Mich.
