Dale L. Cryderman

Dale L. Cryderman, age 74, of Brooklyn, passed away Sept. 21, 2016. Dale was born April 30, 1942, in Albion, Mich., the son of William Dale and Dorothy (Gates) Cryderman. He married Elizabeth McKenna Aug. 22, 1964, in Jackson.

He retired from Columbia Schools as a chemistry teacher in 2001 after more than 30 years of service.

Dale was a member of the Brooklyn Presbyterian Church and was the director of music ministries for more than 15 years. Prior to joining his church in Brooklyn, he served in various capacities at the Jackson Free Methodist Church. Dale served the Village of Brooklyn for more than 33 years as trustee, clerk, and being appointed as the village’s first manager. Dale worked with the Department of Defense in the area of cancer research, he also established a support group at Henry Ford Allegiance Health for prostate cancer survivors and their families.

Besides his wife Elizabeth, Dale is survived by his children, Brent (Joann) Cryderman of Houghton Lake and Lisa Cryderman of Jackson; his grandchildren, Chloe, Tessa, and Brooklyn Cryderman, Ryan (Elizabeth) Ykimoff, Jessie and Parker Ykimoff; his brothers, William L. (Sharon) Cryderman of Spring Arbor, Lyn D. Cryderman of Hoxeyville, Mich., and Rik (Gary Bopp) Cryderman of Naples, Fla; many nieces and nephews; and Hiroshi (Akemi) Wada of Osaka, Japan. Dale’s parents preceded him in death.

A memorial visitation for Dale will be held Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, from 5-8 p.m. Visitation will also be held Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, from 2 p.m. until the time of his memorial service at 3 at the Brooklyn Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dale’s memory may be made to the Dale L. Cryderman Scholarship Fund c/o American 1 Federal Credit Union; the Brooklyn Presbyterian Church; or to the Brooklyn Food Pantry, 171 Wamplers Lake Road, Brooklyn, MI 49230.
