Claude Robert ‘Butch’ Hardy Jr.

Claude Robert “Butch” Hardy Jr., 73, of Obrien, Fla., formerly of Brooklyn, Addison and Hudson, Mich., passed away at his home on July 4, 2017 of natural causes.

He and his twin sister, Claudette were born Nov. 20, 1943 in Bay City, Mich.

Although he was legally blind, Butch worked very hard at whatever he could accomplish. He was a roofer, enjoyed gardening, fishing, watching westerns and wrestling on TV and coming to Michigan when possible.

He is survived by a daughter, Kristie (Chris) Oakley and granddaughters; sisters Elaine (Jack) McCabe, Karen (Ernie) Davis and Vivian Sanford (Mike Corbin); several nieces, nephews and family members in Michigan, Ohio, North Carolina and Florida; and his most beloved canine friend “Taco Man”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude (Genevieve) Hardy Sr. and Eva (Allen) Payne; sisters Audrey Bryant of N.C., and his twin sister, Claudette Bomia of Va.

Cremation has taken place and burial next to his mother will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, at St. Michaels and All Angels Episcopal Church – Cambridge Junction, Mich. For directions go to www.stmichaelaaa.org. A luncheon will follow.
