Betty J. Shaw, age 81, of Addison, formerly of Lake Somerset, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at the Laurels of Coldwater Nursing Home, in Coldwater, Mich.

She was born Aug. 10, 1934, in Rollin Township, Mich., to Dale Franklin and Arlene Louise (Stubli) Moore. She married Richard K. Shaw Sept. 30, 1956, in Hudson, Mich., and he preceded her in death April 19, 2012.  Betty lived her early life in Clayton and then in the Addison/Manitou Beach area.  She then lived at Lake Somerset for the past 40 years.  She graduated from Hudson High School in 1952.  She was formerly employed at the Daily Telegram in Adrian, Thompson Savings Bank in Hudson, Addison Products, where she was Mr. Knight’s secretary, the IGA Grocery Store in Addison, and then she was a real estate agent for Ruth Ingerson in Somerset.  Betty was an avid bowler where she was state champion in her league, and she enjoyed ceramics.

Surviving are three sons, Greg (Bonnie) Shaw of Battle Creek, Brad (Beth) Shaw of Addison, Jeff (Sally) Shaw of Lake Somerset; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Nancy (Butch) Kious of Harrison; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard K. Shaw; and one grandson, Chris Shaw.

Cremation has taken place.  A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison, with Pastor Keith W. Porter officiating.  Visitation was from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2016, at the funeral home.
