Bernice  Joy Vanover (Clements, Kennedy)

Bernice  Joy Vanover (Clements, Kennedy), of Cement City, formerly of Ferndale, Mich., passed away in Royal Oak, Mich., on Thursday, September 17, 2020, at the age of 92. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Eugene Clements, and Vernon Vanover; sister, Betty Bowser; brothers, Dennis and Richard Kennedy.

Bernice is survived by her son, Brad (Jean) Clements and daughter, Cathy Wilson (Dan Ressler);  five stepdaughters, Stefanie Stroupe, Melanie Estes, Andrea Barnett, Kimberly Walton, and she was preceded in death by Sheri Gudnason. Granddaughter, Lauren (Rodney) Mershman; great-grandson, R.J., and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was born in Nanty Glo, Penn., on September 27, 1927, to Percey and Ethel (Sheeder) Kennedy. She relocated to Michigan with her parents and graduated from Pershing high school. She was employed for Bell Telephone and then spent her life as a caring and loving homemaker.

She had a strong faith in the Lord and was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hazel Park, Mich. She touched the hearts of many and will be greatly missed.

She will be laid to rest next to Mr. Vanover at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Drew Woods officiating a graveside service.
