Monroe Rappaport

Monroe Rappaport, 91, of Onsted, Mich., passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016. He was married to Wilma Jennelle Rappaport for 67 years. They had four children, Nikki Dunn, Leighanne Rappaport, Julia Tomaro and Max Rappaport; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Monroe entered the Marines when he was 17 years old. After serving his country, he met Jennelle while attending Bowling Green State University. He then went into a career of teaching and eventually became an elementary school principal for the Monroe Public School system. Upon retirement, he and Jennelle moved to their lake house and spent winters in Florida.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held June 11, at 1 p.m., to honor both Monroe and Jennelle, at the Rappaport residence. Donations may be sent to Aware Shelter of Jackson, 706 W. Michigan Avenue, Jackson, MI  49201, or via www.awareshelter.org.
