Jerry Lee Whiteman

His legacy . . . Jerry Lee Whiteman, age 68, longtime resident of Brooklyn, passed away Jan. 19, 2016, at Allegiance Health. He was born Aug. 17, 1947, in Tecumseh the son of Allan and Thelma (Duff) Whiteman. Jerry married Judi (Franke) Peek Aug. 16, 1980, in Brooklyn and she survives. He was employed with the state of Michigan Department of Corrections and retired at the rank of lieutenant. Jerry was the true outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing and most of all spending time with his family and friends. Jerry had a true love for nature and thought of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula as God’s country.  His love for his family and friends will forever be remembered.

His family . . . In addition to his loving wife of  35 years, Jerry is survived by his children, Devyn (Naomi) Peek, Eric (Dina) Peek, Rick (Jo Ellen) Whiteman, Christina (Scott Quiring) Peek; grandchildren, David (Heather) Peek, Michael, Nicole, Mark, Ethan, Daniel and Eric Peek;  great-grandchildren, Jordan and Derek Peek; twin sister, Terry (John) Senkewitz; brother, Allan Gene Whiteman; fur babies, Bear, Bunny, Izzy, Thor and Xena; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

His farewell . . . Jerry’s family greeted friends Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Braun Chapel. In his honor, memorial donations may be shared with the Cascades Humane Society.
