Irene M. Hahn, 96, a longtime resident of Clinton, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at Hospice of Lenawee. She was born Nov. 5, 1919, in West Point, Neb., the oldest of six daughters, born to Einer and Christina (Meier) Johnson. On Oct. 12, 1943, she married Frank J. Hahn and after his service in World War II, they relocated to Clinton, Mich.

Mrs. Hahn was an active member of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church. She maintained the church altar linens, vestments and was housekeeper for the church rectory. She prepared meals for visiting clergy and her apple pies were a favorite at St. Dominic’s Hall during the fall festivals. Mrs. Hahn’s homemaking and gardening skills were exceptional. She loved all creatures great and small, especially their dog, Toby. Mrs. Hahn was always there for family and a second mother to many of her children’s friends. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed by her family and friends.

Mrs. Hahn is survived by her daughter, Darlene (Robert) Wagner of Irving, Texas; her sons, Mark Hahn of Naples, Fla., and Eugene Hahn of Brooklyn Mich.; her son-in-law, Charles Escott; two sisters; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband; her daughter, Ilene Escott; and three sisters.

Visitation for Mrs. Hahn will be held Sunday, June 26, 2016, at the Clinton Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes, from 6 to 8 p.m. Mass of the Christian burial will be held Monday, June 27, 2016, at St. Dominic’s Catholic Chapel in Clinton at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial to follow at St. Dominic’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to your favorite charity.
