Carroll L. King passed away at her home Wednesday July 27, 2016 with her family by her side after a 4½ year battle with lung cancer.

She was born Oct. 19, 1935, in Fayetteville, W.V. It was there that she met and married her husband Jerry King and he survives.

She began her career as a telephone operator and eventually transferred to Jackson. She worked for Michigan Bell and retired from AT&T.

After retiring, she spent time as a volunteer at Allegiance Health. She also enjoyed spending time at her church Heart O’ the Lakes United Brethren. She enjoyed helping at the rummage sale and the exercise class.

One of her passions was flower gardening and she spent countless hours in her flower gardens. She became a Jackson County Advanced Master Gardener and spent many hours beautifying many gardens in Jackson, mainly the Dahlem Center.

Her greatest passion was her family. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Myra (Ted) Watkins of Tecumseh; son Mike King of Portage; grandchildren Ross, Haley (Chuck), Amanda (Sean) and Josh (Rikki); great grandchildren Reis, Leah and Nash.

She is also survived by her brother, Shirl (Ann); sister, Marilyn (Walt); and sisters-in-law, Joyce and Jean. She had many friends that meant the world to her.

The family would like to thank Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice of Jackson for their excellent care and compassion during this difficult time. The family would also like to thank Pastor Cyle Young for his support, prayers and visits. Per her wishes cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held at Heart O’ the Lakes United Brethren Church on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016, at noon. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will follow.

In lieu of flowers donations in her name may be made to Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice of Jackson.
