Alice A. Wedemeyer

Alice A. Wedemeyer passed away at the age of 92, Aug. 22, 2016 under the care of Hospice and Trellis Gardens of Jackson. Born March 12, 1924, in Lansing, Mich., Alice graduated Lansing Central High School 1943, she was a World War II veteran, U.S. Navy WAVES, “Whiting Field” Florida. Retired Michigan Bell Telephone Co. and served as a page for the Jackson District Library.

Survived by her children, Susan (Michael) Emberton, Jon (Sandy) Wedemeyer, and Lynn Surbrook and Kay (Scott) Bishop; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore F. Wedemeyer; stepson, Mark Wedemeyer; and stepdaughter, Beverly Cahill. Alice had a great love for the arts, dogs, gardening and reading.

For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Jackson District Library or Hospice of Jackson. Per her wishes cremation has taken place. She’ll be laid to rest at Glendale Cemetery, Okemos. Services provided by Wetherby Funeral Home, 402 Wildwood Ave., Jackson, 787-7511.
