Earl H. Witte

Earl H. Witte, 83, went to be with the Lord surrounded by his family Aug. 20, 2016, at the Allegiance Hospice Care Center in Jackson, Mich. He was born March 30, 1933, to Frank and Myrtle (Schultz) and lived in Allen Park, Mich. He proudly served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Afterward he became a journeyman die-maker at Republic Die & Tool in Belleville, Mich. He lived in Dearborn Heights, Mich., later retiring and living on Silver Lake in Cement City, Mich.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Florence; three sons, Stewart (Jan), Ronald (Sandy) and Edward; three grandchildren, Katie, Alex and Kyle; two brothers, Merle and Frank (Jessie); brother-in-law, John Overaitis (Lynn), Joseph Overaitis (Marlene); sister-in-law, Eva Witte; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Sylvia, Gloria and Rosalie; and brothers, Willie, Gordon, Ralph and Ross.

Earl loved gardening, doing home projects and playing cards with family and friends. He spent his winters in Haines City, Fla., and summers in Michigan. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 17, 2016, at Lutheran Church of the Lakes, 8800 N. Rollins Highway, Addison. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made out to Hospice of Jackson, 2150 Kingsbrooke Drive, Jackson, MI 49202.
