Betty Lou Wilks

Betty Lou Wilks, age 76 years, of Addison, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 6, 2016, at her home. She was born July 19, 1939, in Navou, Ala., the daughter of Charley and Maebelle (Farley) Perry. Betty married Robert E. Wilks April 4, 1955, in Hernando, Miss., and he survives. Betty was a member of First Baptist Church in Brooklyn where she was active with Children’s Bible Clubs and Awana Club. She enjoyed sewing, baking, floral arranging and home décor.

Surviving Betty besides her husband, Robert, are two daughters, Victoria (Paul) England of Romulus and Vonda Wilks of Addison; six grandchildren, Jerod Wilks, Amanda (Jason) Finkler, Loni (Jonathan) Dau, Arika Montgomery, Jacyln Olepa and Jesica Eby; three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Evan and Harper; four sisters, Maggie “Susie” (Gary) Kritcher, Dian (Harold) Head, Denice Perry and Joy (Mike) Jabro; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Lee Wilks and parents.

Funeral services for Betty will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2016, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison with Pastor John Losen Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Addison. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2016, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
