Vincent Francis Stapley

His legacy . . . Vincent Francis Stapley, 84, passed away on March 24, 2020, at his home in Clarklake surrounded by his family. He was born on February 25, 1936, in Carey, Ohio, to Cecil and Gertrude Stapley. Vincent graduated from Carey High School in 1954. Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Air Force as a meteorologist. He served four years during the Korean Conflict, during which he was stationed in Japan. Following his military service, he attended Bowling Green State University, and later, earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Toledo. Vincent worked for the Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney’s office, before opening his own private law practice. He dedicated 54 years of his career to the Jackson County community, during which he established the Probation Department for the county. Vincent was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time at this home on Clarklake and being surrounded by his family and friends.

Vincent is survived by his wife, Ruth Stapley; and five children, Venisa Cox of Winter Haven, Fla.; Melissa Stapley of Coldwater, Mich.; Duane Stapley of Jackson, Mich.; Daniel (Amber) Stapley of Jackson, Mich.; and Cecil Stapley of Jackson, Mich.; multiple grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Richard Stapley of Union City, Mich. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, James, and Charles Stapley.

His farewell . . . A private mass will be held at St. Rita’s Catholic Church at Vincent’s request. The Memorial service will be held at a later date.
