Sandra L. Houghton

Sandra L. Houghton, age 74, of Addison, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2016, at her home. She was born May 25, 1941, in Addison, Mich., to Charles E. and Ruby M. (Swander) Brown. She married Kenneth G. Houghton July 25, 1959, in Adrian, Mich., and he survives.

Sandra lived in the Addison area all her life. She graduated from Addison High School in 1959. She was employed at the former Addison Hospital as a ward clerk and surgical technician. She then worked at the former Addison Bariatrics Treatment Center in medical records and then at Ypsilanti Bariatrics Center. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Addison, where she was involved in many Kingdom Hall activities. She enjoyed shopping, antiquing, gardening and crocheting.

Surviving besidse her husband, Ken, are three sons, David (Sue) Houghton, Don (Lisa) Houghton, Dan and his friend Laura Houghton; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Betty Cascarelly and Judy (Keith) Houghton all from Addison; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Nick Cascarelly.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison, with elder Harley Karmol officiating. Burial will be made in Hillside Cemetery in Addison. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Addison.
