Robert Duane ‘Ozzie’ Williams Sr.

His legacy . . . Robert Duane “Ozzie” Williams Sr., age 81, longtime resident of Cement City, passed away Jan. 2, 2016, at Allegiance Health.  He was born in Addison, Mich., May 13, 1934, to Vess and Zula (Ankney) Williams. Ozzie married Peggy Rowley June 18, 1955, in Jackson and she survives.

He was the owner/operator of Williams Coffee Service until his retirement. Ozzie was an active member of the Jackson Horseshoe Association, Michigan and National Horseshoe Pitcher Associations as well as a lifetime member of the Jackson Horseshoe Club. His wife and family will cherish the memories made as they travelled the country to attend horseshoe tournaments where they made many lasting friendships.

His family . . . In addition to his loving wife of 60 years, Ozzie is survived by his children, Robert Jr. (Anna), Sandy (Kenny), Randy, Sue (Curt) and Tom (Lisa); nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Jerry, Beryl, Dick, Gus, Harry and Ray; two sisters, Liz Richfield and Alice Kelley; and one grandson, Dallas.

His farewell . . . Ozzie’s family greeted friends Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Braun Chapel.  His community farewell began Tuesday with a gathering at 10 a.m. with the service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Drew Woods officiating. Interment was at Roseland Memorial Gardens.
