Randell K. Holloman, age 84, of Brooklyn, passed away May 28, 2016. Randy was born Aug. 27, 1931, in Rosiclare, Ill., the son of Virgil and Pearl (Conrad) Holloman. He married Melda Beth Shearer Sept. 26, 1953, and she survives.

Randy retired in 2001 as the president and CEO of the Morris W. Smith Agency in Brooklyn after 35 years of service. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy after serving on the U.S.S. Iowa in Korea. Randy graduated from Jackson Business College in 1956. Prior to the Morris W. Smith Agency, Randy worked at Kent Moore and the Southern Telephone Co. (now Frontier) in Brooklyn. Randy was also the last founding member of Heart ‘O the Lakes (now Hill’s Heart of the Lakes) Golf Course and one of the original owners of the Super 8 hotel in Brooklyn.

Randy was a member of the First Baptist Church, Brooklyn, and the American Legion Wilbur-Bartlett Post #35, Brooklyn. Formerly, Randy was a member of the Brooklyn Kiwanis Club, a board member of the Goodwill in Jackson, treasurer of the village of Brooklyn, and 12-year member of the Columbia school board. Randy never missed an event that one of his grandchildren was participating in. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, old cars, and playing cards with his friends after Kiwanis.

Besides his wife Melda, Randy is survived by his children, Terrie (William Jr.) Collins of Brooklyn, Russell (Cindy) Holloman of Martin, Tenn., Julia (Ken) Anderson of Newnan, Ga., and Tina (Phillip) Abbey of Brooklyn; his grandchildren, Amanda (Micah) Byers, Kathleen (Chris) Barrier, Rob (Hannah) Anderson, Melissa Holloman, Jamie (Jason) Morgan, Riley Holloman, Carsyn and Noah Abbey, and Alicia and Kendra Anderson; his great-grandchildren, Phoebe, Raden, Hailey, Parker, Jaxon, Colton, Silas, and Judah. Randy was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Quorra Alynn Byers; his parents; his brothers, Joe and Russell; and his sister, Irene Gentry.

Funeral services for Randy will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Brooklyn with pastor Jeff Sheeks officiating.  Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church.  Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Brooklyn. Memorial donations in Randy’s name may be directed to the First Baptist Church’s parking lot fund.
