Marion N. (Shisler) Carpenter, age 81, of Cement City, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016, at her home, under the loving care of her family.           She was born June 8, 1934, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Francis A. and Emoline (Herbert) Shisler. She married Richard E. Carpenter July 17, 1954, in Eagle, N.Y., and he preceded her in death Jan. 6, 2004.

Marion lived her early life in the state of New York, then she lived her married life in the LaGrange, Ohio area before moving to the Cement City area in 1964. She graduated from Arcade Central High School in 1951 in Arcade, N.Y. Marion was a member of the First Baptist Church in Brooklyn, Mich.  She was a devoted wife who upheld her husband Richard in all his endeavors. She loved picking berries and making pies for her friends and family. She prepared many meals for shut-ins and served as the church clerk for many years.  She loved spending time with her family.

Marion is survived by two sons, Kevin (Joann) Carpenter of Brooklyn and Kurt (Kristine) Carpenter of Cement City; two daughters, Karen (Steve) Reese of Brooklyn and Kathleen (Tony) Pepe of Bar-Sur-Seine, France; 14 grandchildren, Heather (Dennis) Wheeler, Sarah Reese, Scott (Tiffany) Reese, Jeremy (Tabitha) Carpenter, Bambi (Michael) Cooper, Karie (Adam) Long, Kristina (Timothy) Dearden, Andrew Pepe, Emily, Kayla, Luke, Ellie, Becca and Leah Carpenter; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ethelmae Mayo of Grafton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard E. Carpenter; infant son, Kent; two sisters; and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016, at the First Baptist Church, in Brooklyn, with Pastor Jeffrey Sheeks, Pastor David Mayo and Pastor Timothy Mayo officiating.  Burial will take place in Cement City Baptist Church Memorial Gardens in Cement City. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the First Baptist Church in Brooklyn, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Jackson Christian School or to the First Baptist Church in Brooklyn. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison.
