Duane Erwin Hayford

Duane Erwin Hayford, age 84, of Brooklyn, passed away Dec. 24, 2015, at Allegiance Health.  He was born in Tecumseh Feb. 8, 1931, to Allen Harvey and Luella Mae Hayford. He was the eighth child of 16 – twelve brothers and four sisters.

Duane proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged at the Rank of Sgt. 1st Class.  Duane worked for Tecumseh Products for 44 years and then retired. He married Carol Ann Sexton and she preceded him in death.  Duane was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.  He had a big heart and a love for people, whether he was having coffee at Big Boy or dinner at Poppa’s Place, Duane would spread joy where ever he went.  His family rejoices knowing that Duane now walks the paved streets of gold with his wife Carol and his Savior Jesus Christ. With no sorrow and a pep in his step.  His legacy of love will live on in the lives of his family and all that he touched.

Duane is survived by his children, Jeffrey (Kathy) Hayford of Marcellus, Linette Hebert of Virginia, Laurie Rossetter of Somerset; sisters, Phyllis Ann Weeks of Long Island, N.Y. and Shirley Mae Beverly of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; his grandchildren, Tiffani Lynn Baggett, Tara Feldkamp, and Nicole Hayford; great-grandchildren, Aiden Baggett, Zachary Baggett and James Hull.

A memorial service to celebrate Duane’s life will be held Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, beginning at noon at Grass Lake Assembly of God, 2900 Mount Hope Road, Grass Lake, with Pastor William Walbridge officiating.
