Doris Elaine Silkworth

Her legacy . . . Doris Elaine Silkworth, age 88, of Brooklyn, passed away Jan. 7, 2016, at the Jackson County Medical Care Facility. She was born Sept. 10, 1927, in Jackson to Shirley and Gladah (Ellis) English. Doris married Wilson Silkworth Nov. 9, 1946, and he survives. She was employed with Ford Motor Co. for many years, working at the Manchester, Brooklyn and Rawsonville plants. She was a licensed practical nurse and enjoyed helping local physicians when called upon. In her spare time Doris enjoyed cake decorating and teaching this at the college level. She also amassed a cookbook collection encompassing some 3,000 books. Doris was a member of the Brooklyn Presbyterian Church and will be forever remembered and loved by her friends and family.

Her family . . . In addition to her loving husband of 69 years, Doris is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Ann (Robert) Keyes; sister, Martha (Leonard) Farrell; and grandsons, Carl and Glenn Keyes.
