Donald Bruce Campbell, age 83, of Liberty Township, Clarklake, Mich., passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016, at his home.

He was born Feb. 18, 1933, in Addison, Mich., to Ralph E. and Clydine B. (Jackson) Campbell. He married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis I. Dresser July 5, 1952, in Napoleon, Mich., and she survives.

Bruce lived his early life in the Napoleon area and then in the Clarklake area for the past 62 years. He graduated from Napoleon High School in 1951. Bruce worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Jackson for 33½ years, retiring in 1984, and then worked for Columbia Schools for 11 years, retiring in 1996. He built his home and his parents’ homes, and helped numerous friends build their homes and garages. He stayed busy and loved tinkering on whatever needed to be fixed.

Surviving besides his wife Phyllis are three sons, David (Darlene) Campbell of Fort Myers, Fla., Donald B. (Cyndi) Campbell of Jackson, John Campbell of Albuquerque, N.M.; one daughter; Kim (Chuck) Morris of Concord; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Doug (Dee) Campbell of Clarklake; one sister, Joyce Campbell of Jackson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at the First Church of The Nazarene, 3905 Clinton Road (M-50), Jackson with Pastor Bryce Gernand officiating. Burial will be made in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Jackson. The visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison, with longtime family friend Pastor Ned Bernstein sharing a memorial message at the funeral home.
