Daniel L. Hammond

His legacy . . . Daniel L. Hammond, age 70, of Fort Wayne, Ind., passed away at home under the loving care of his wife, family and hospice July 18, 2016.  He was born Dec. 29, 1945, in Jackson, Mich., the son of Leo and Florence (Pelham) Hammond.  Daniel met the love of his life, Suzanne Shirey, when they were 15 and later married her.  Born and raised in the Irish Hills, Dan and his family relocated to his wife’s hometown of Fort Wayne. He became a CPA and was an owner/operator of his own accounting firm Hammond Accounting Services until his retirement in 2015.

His greatest times were spent with his family. In addition to his loving wife, Suzanne, Dan is survived by his children, Dawn Hammond, Mike Hammond, Jim Hammond and his wife Jessica and their three kids: Alex, Drew and Tori.

His farewell . . . Dan’s family will greet friends Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at the St. Joseph Shrine Catholic Church beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. with Father Bob Pienta as celebrant.  Interment at St. Joseph Shrine Catholic Cemetery.  In Dan’s honor, and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be shared with Visiting Nurse Hospice, 5910 Homestead Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46814, 260-435-3222, www.vnfw.org.
