Anita Lou (Knowles) Schultz, age 84, of Manitou Beach, was called home to be with the Lord Thursday, May 26, 2016. Anita was born May 23, 1932, daughter of Nathan and Gladys (Ball) Knowles of Manitou Beach. Anita was a lifelong resident of the Onsted and Manitou Beach areas. She graduated from Addison High School in 1950 and attended Eastern Michigan University where she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education. Anita taught at Onsted Elementary School for 35 years. Aside from teaching she was an active 4-H leader in sewing, cooking, and photography. She was a certified master gardener, member of the Onsted Get Together Club, and her Bunco group. She loved to sew, cook, create hair-pin-lace afghans, travel, and do countless craft projects with her grandchildren. Anita also loved to sing in the choir at the Springville United Methodist Church where she was a member for many years.

Anita is survived by her five children, Bruce (Denise) Schultz, Gary (Cindy) Schultz, Leta (Tim) Kuhn, Scott (Peggy) Schultz all of Onsted and Laura Krzyzaniak of Adrian; sister-in-law, LuAnn Knowles of Newark, Texas; eight grandchildren, Jodi (Brandon) Young of Jackson, Shelby Wyant of Vineyard Lake, Maegan (Andrew) Pittelkow of Marshall, Shaun McCave of Dewey Lake, Robert (Brittney) Kuhn of Jackson, Lacey Kuhn of Jackson, Makena Schultz of Lansing, Brad Krzyzaniak of Manitou Beach; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Silas Knowles and Philip Knowles; and two stepmothers.

Cremation has taken place and memorial services for Anita will be held Wednesday, June 15 at the Ogden Church, 3201 U.S.-223 in Adrian, with Pastor John Maguire officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., until time of service at 11 a.m. at Ogden Church, with a luncheon to follow. Memorials are suggested to Onsted Branch of the Lenawee County Library.
