His legacy . . . Harold Joseph “Joe” Marsh Jr., age 76, of Brooklyn, passed away peacefully March 8, 2016, under the care of his family and Hospice of Lenawee County. Harold (Joe) was born April 11, 1939, in Adrian, Mich., to Harold and Claire (Kelsch) Marsh. He attended Adrian Catholic Central, and earned teaching degrees from University of Cincinnati and Siena Heights University. Joe met his future wife, Lynn, while serving in the Peace Corps in Peru. On Aug. 22, 1964, he married D. Lynn (Livingston) in Mayesville, Ky. He taught for 36 years for Adrian Public Schools. He was a dedicated member of St. Joseph’s Shrine and was a charter member of both the St. Joseph’s Knights of Columbus and the Ancient Order of Hibernians (St. Patrick’s Division).

His family . . . Harold is survived by eight children and their spouses, Marta (Bob) Gilson, Mary Gautz, Rebecca (Scott) McCannell, Lucy (Rick) Oldfield, Elizabeth (Matt) Girdham, Suzanne Marsh, Joseph (Jodi) Marsh, and Julia (John) Hoving; sisters, Rosemary Marsh, Kathleen (Bart) Hayes and Margie Dennis; one brother, John Marsh; and maternal aunt, Marge Harris. Harold and Lynn have 23 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Maura.

His farewell . . . Harold’s family greeted friends at the Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Brooklyn, on Friday, March 11, 2016, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. Rosary. Gathering continued Saturday at St. Joseph Shrine Catholic Church at 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 a.m. with Father Bob Pienta as celebrant. Interment at St. Joseph Shrine Catholic Cemetery.
